Yellowstone Park

My in-laws invited Nate and me to join them for the opening of Yellowstone park for the summer! It was absolutely beautiful. I'm so glad I can cross this off my bucket list and hope to visit here again while we literally live right next to it.

We only saw buffalo and an elk at the end. I was really hoping to see a bear! Next time.

Funny story. This buffalo that was standing so close to us? Everyone wanted to take a picture with him. Every once in a while he would inch closer to the parking lot, which was right where our car was parked. We had to sneak past him to get to our car. Once we were inside we saw a lady stand five feet away from the buffalo with her back towards him with another lady standing in front of her to take a picture. I don't think she understood that buffalo can be hostile. It started charging for her because she was way to close to it. Of course she didn't notice because she had her back to him! Nate opened the car door to shout at her to start running. Sure enough she had to run between our car and another car to barely escape the beast. The buffalo almost rammed into our Ford! I'm sure he was just trying to tell her to back off like a warning, but it just goes to show that you have to be careful around these guys. My heart was pumping and I wasn't the one to be chased!

Old Faithful!

We are having ourselves a little boy wonder!

We're happy to announce that we're having a little boy wonder! He will begin his origin story December 30th, 2015.

Everyone thought we were going to have a baby girl, but they are wrong. I couldn't be more excited to have a little boy! So much more fun to shop for!

Finding out we were pregnant

I suspected I was pregnant on Mother's day. For that weekend Nate and I traveled to Utah to see my brother in-law graduate with his Master's. Most of my in-laws were in town so we went to an aquarium and then swimming in an indoor pool. It was wonderful to be with everyone since the wedding! There was this gut feeling I couldn't shake that Sunday in church... more than any other Mother's day. Usually I hear, "happy Mother's day to you since you will be a future mother!" but what if it was sooner than I thought. When we came home from our visit, I took a pregnancy test. I doubted my gut feeling, but there it was... the blue cross. Sure enough. I didn't think it was possible so soon after we got married.

At the time I couldn't wrap my mind around it. Me? pregnant? I was scared. I was excited. Ultimately, I've never been so blessed to have this little babe.

We had our second reception on Friday the 13th : the Vancouver Reception

First off, I must say it was either have our reception on Friday the 13th or Valentine's day. We took the superstitious day because we wanted more people to show up.

Second of all, just like the Boise reception, I told Nate's mom over in Washington that she was in charge of the second open house/reception. I showed her the same Pinterest pictures with the burlap and lace and naked wedding cake. She used some of the pictures and decorations from the first reception to make it look very similar. The night before the second reception, Nate's mom had surgery. A lot of the last minute details had to be handed out to the amazing ladies in her ward. They did amazing picking up where she left off. Now, Nate's mom is an amazing baker. Even with the surgery she managed to make the cake we wanted. But the cake was so moist we couldn't stack it! It was falling down like the cake in Sleeping Beauty.

Nate's mom, Kim, was able to ask a photographer in her ward to take pictures of our reception for free. Thanks, Shelly!

The amazing thing at this reception was the amount of food! These pictures don't do food justice. And those food stands? Those are heart-shaped logs! Talk about cute! We were able to take one of them for our own home after the reception was over.

So we got to cut the cake again. This time we made sure to get each other in the mouth. The second cake cutting picture is too funny to not add!

The photographer told us to dance, even though the reception was just about over. So these beauts are our dancing faces. Nathan, looking like a party animal...

... and I look like I'm doing a little jig! Ha!

Burlap + Lace : the Boise Reception

Pretty much all of the Boise reception is thanks to my mom. I set her in charge, showed her some Pinterest pictures (burlap and lace, but not too farm-y rustic), and let her free to do what she wanted. She did a fantastic job!

Our wedding rings.
My bouquet.
Cutting the cake. I told Nate that we should smash each other's faces with the cake. When we were about to feed each other, he was a little quicker than me, which made me miss his face and get his mouth... or maybe I forgot what I told him.
This will remain one of the greatest pictures ever.
The look on my face... haha!
Daddy daughter dance.
Our dance.
Bouquet toss!
My little brother off to the left is holding out his arms as if to catch the flowers. I don't think he knew what was going on.. haha!
That's all she wrote!
